The harmonica friendly “Cali In A Cup” is Woods’ first single from their seventh album Bend Beyond which promises a darker take on their freaky folk. While the music might sound cheery, lead singer Jeremy Earl is singing about some dark stuff behind his falsetto. The fuzz guitar and acoustic jangle add just the right amount of grit and earthiness to the seemingly innocent tune while at the same time recalling a shade of Neil Young’s influence. Bend Beyond will be released via Woodsist on September 18th which certainly appears a way long off.
