Archer : Season 2 :: Review

Most adult targeted animated series have moments that raise a giggle here or there. But is there truly enough wit to be sustainable? That’s where Archer comes in. With the perfect balance of sophistication and immature humor, the FX series stands out (or maybe above) from the crowd.

After an Archer Season-Two marathon, I conclude that the cult-like style of humor does not get old. The 1960’s set and character style mixed with smart references and witty stupidity hits the spot for adult themed humor. I am not even sure kids would understand the jokes…but I would not exactly encourage them to view it with you.

The Blu-ray looks and sounds amazing. The video is crisp and bright; the sounds are clear. I would not think that there would be such a drastic difference for animated series, but it is obvious that all elements are enhanced.

This two-disc set has just a few—but still entertaining—extras. My favorite has to be “Archersaurus”, where Archer turns into a velociraptor. Others include “Ask Archer”, “Semper Fi”, “L’espion Mal Fait”, and “ISIS Infiltrates Comic Con”.

As far as I’m concerned, Archer is one of, if not the best animated sitcom on TV…witty, irreverent, and absurd. Even though there are few extras, the series is awesome without the frills. Highly recommended!
