The Music Tee Announces New Albums for the Holidays

MOF The Music Tee Announces New Albums for the Holidays

“If you’re still mourning the loss of your ex-boyfriend’s perfectly holey (and holy!) Led Zeppelin tee shirt that you lost in the breakup, take heart: Another perfect marriage of soft cotton and hard rock has arrive….”

- Glamour

“…a really cool, new and unique way for musicians to make money to survive as musicians, while creating a new outlet for fans to experience the music itself.” - Bombin’ Magazine

“We’re hoping [The Music Tee] will not only give artists some much needed sales, but also… reinvigorate the art of the album cover. While it’s certainly nice to hang an LP on your wall, being able to wear it may be even cooler.”

- TrendCentral

Looking for the perfect holiday gift for that music junky in your life? Give them a chance to both own and wear an album from one of their favorite bands! The Music Tee offers complete albums (plus a variety of compilations) in a T-shirt format, reviving “album art” as an integral – and emotionally compelling – part of the musical experience.

This holiday season, The Music Tee is rolling out new Music Tees from Monsters of Folk, Devandra Banhart, Lissy Trullie, Shwayze, Band of Skulls, Har Mar Superstar, The Asteroids Galaxy Tour and many others, all of which are available at TheMusicTee.com. Previously released (and still available) tees include Mos Def, Amanda Blank, The Plastiscines, Sliimy, Third Eye Blind and others. Colorful and groundbreaking, the shirts are the perfect gift for both your favorite fashionista and music aficionado at the same time.

A joint venture between L.A.-based music innovator Invisible DJ and Girlie Action, each Music Tee contains album art on the front, with a track list on the back. Each shirt comes with a hang-tag that contains a unique code, allowing the owner to download the album (track list) from TheMusicTee.com. The Music Tee is registered with Nielsen SoundScan so each download counts as an album sale once the download is complete. The venture enables music fans to buy music in a fashion environment, fusing two innovative ideas into one singular purchase.

The Music Tee launched earlier this year and is being carried by various retail outlets including Ron Herman, Metro Park, Saks Fifth Avenue, Kitson, Shopbop, and dozens of other boutiques and chains. Artists (and their labels) are also selling their shirts on tour, on their websites and through various music distributors, just like CDs.
