The Subpop Nike Shoe is completely necessary…

5894…by which I mean…it’s not..by which I mean if you buy it, you’ll be the coolest hipster of all time.  You have probably seen this thing about a million bajillion times by now and if so, I’m sorry.  The press release sums everything up for me…read it below.

A long, long time ago (about a year-and-a-half, to be exact) the grand architects behind all things Sub Pop began plotting an all-out public celebration around the company’s 20th Anniversary.  A Festival (SP20) was organized, Loser beer brewed, Seattle’s Space Needle was painted, the Singles Club resurrected, skateboard decks were made, etc. But one thing was missing.  A fucking shoe.

Enter Marcus. Long time friend of Sub Pop and local entrepreneur/band manager, Marcus Lalario came to us with an exciting proposition. He had friends working at Nike, and low behold they actually dug the label! Together for five days and nights (really it was a couple of hours) we diligently designed a shoe that would pay homage to our beloved Singles Club.

SP20 came and went. Some forgot about the shoe. Others waited patiently. Last week, with little to no warning, the shoes arrived on our doorstep like an orphaned child. Somehow you all (maybe just a couple of you) found out our secret before we had a chance to tell you about it. But we are gonna tell you about it anyway.

Shoe highlights:

We have less than 300 pairs to offer for your consumption at the insider price of $90 (other retailers are selling them for $140)

As aforementioned, the shoes were created incorporating design elements from the Sub Pop Singles Club. They are primarily yellow and black, sporting the signature Single’s Club squiggly gray line and black star. But wait! There’s more. The shoes have their own catalogue number (SP780) which is proudly displayed on the back of the heel. The Singles Club logo (including July 2009- Limited Edition) graces the inside of the tongue while the Sub Pop logo can be found on the front as well as on the insole of the high top sneaker.

Sizes: US Men Size 6 through 13
