The Pains of Being Pure At Heart : Young Adult Friction 7″ :: Review
“Young Adult Friction” could be deemed a bouncy tale of young lust in the library captured by a Smiths-like melody and is the centerpiece of a phenomenal album. “Young Adult Friction” reminds me of the type of song you would find in the middle of a chase scene of some John Hughes flick with the exception of “Baby’s Day Out.” B-Side “Ramona” is equally impressive and recalls the shoegaze of My Bloody Valentine and The Telescopes with its downtrodden riffing. At times, you can almost hear the sun starting to peak through the gray atmospherics that the band is conjuring. Definitely a must hear!
