New York’s exuberant “new wave folk” outfit The Honey Brothers are ready to kick off summer with brand new music in the form of the ‘Demonstration’ EP (June 16th). Written and recorded as a follow-up to their 2006 debut ‘Songs for Your Sister,’ ‘Demonstration’ is a 4-song treat comprising quirky rock anthems perfect as the soundtrack for summer’s bike rides, gritty bar crawls and sweaty dance parties alike.

Taking “Honey” on as new last names like a sweeter reincarnation of The Ramones, The Honey Brothers began 1 dog year ago as the all-acoustic trio of banjoist Dory Honey (Andrew Vladeck), guitarist Dr. J Carl Honey (D.S. Posner) and ukulele strummer H. Huckleberry Honey (Ari Gold). They soon added drummer Honey DuContra (Adrian Grenier) and Ari’s real-life twin brother, Raw Honey (bassist Ethan Gold), to form a raucous quintet that blends volatile melodies and four-part harmonies with sharp rhythms.

The group described itself as “Hawaiian-Appalachian Glam Rock” on ‘Songs for Your Sister,’ and the first single “Demonstration” features a joyful melody, angular basslines, a group-sung chorus and a twitchy groove, which invoke the art-rock sounds of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Pavement.
