Movie Trailer : Where The Wild Things Are :: Spike Jonze
I noticed that the trailer for Where The Wild Things Are went online today. I tried to view it without prejudice, which is impossible because the original story by Maurice Sendak means a lot to me. After watching the preview, I can say that I was impressed with the likenesses of the Wild Things and Max. However it also appeared that this film would contain a fair bit of Hollywood moralizing. That kind of takes a bit away from the film which should have been made as a short and not a feature length film. I don’t get the feeling that this film is a bastardization of the book because Jonez is pretty clever with his storytelling skills. If this film is a dog like the studio has estimated, it will die a quick death. Hopefully this is not the case with this film, as I try to remain optimistic about the quality of Spike Jonez’ talents. Check out the preview and let me know what you think. Maybe I’m paranoid.
