U2: Get On Your Boots Video Review
The video for GOYB was posted on Youtube for a while today, and because it’s not an official release, it’s a grainy and muddy affair. I can only imagine that Universal will have it yanked before the end of the weekend, and I didn’t want to post it here only to take it down. Alex Courtes who previously helmed the subtle “Vertigo” video directed the epic and embarrassing “Get On Your Boots”.
I watched the video a couple of times instead of heeding laws of common sense because I had to let all of the imagery sink in. The video is shamelessly over the top, pretentious and downright silly. It reminded me of the video to “Girls” by Prodigy from a few years ago.
Earlier this week The Edge reported to Hot Press, “It’s based around the idea that men have fucked things up so badly, politically, economically and socially that it’s really time we handed things over to women. We had our doubts when we saw a rough cut – but the finished video is brilliant. He’s really nailed it.”
Yeah, he nailed something or other.
In case the video is off Youtube by the time this is read, here’s a gallery of grainy images taken from GOYB.
