Bruce Springsteen : Working On A Dream :: Review

bruce5highdd Bruce Springsteen : Working On A Dream :: Review

Bruce Springsteen is cooking up some new songs for a new album in January.  The first single, “Working On A Dream” should appeal to his audience and not many others.  “Working On A Dream” is a middle of the road rocker full of doowop back up vocals and a typical Springsteen chorus.  Bruce Springsteen sounds lazy, he could write this one in his sleep.  The performance on this song sounds mechanical, like Springsteen is deciding to stick to his formula and never deviate.  It’s no wonder Bruce was called the “Rock and Roll Donovan” by Keith Richards.

r u kidding? Comparing Donovan to Springsteen. cmon dude. Springsteen has been the greatest live performer for 3 decades and has 3 of the top 50 albums of all time.

I’m simply agreeing with Richard’s comparison. What do you think of this new track? It’s a little workman-like isn’t it?

I think the new song is at least as good as anything off of Magic…so that’s one step up. The Wrestler tune is a fabulous song. The other two I have heard sound good too…..Give it time.

    The Donovan comment is low……

Yeah, the Donovan comment is low, that’s why it’s great. Ol’ Keith calls them as he sees them, there’s nothing wrong with that.

I agree, its lazy, and dull and boring, repeditive crap, and many songs on this album are similar, except Wrestler and Tommorrow never knows, Magic was much better

I wish they would have waited to produce this album. Good Eye, Life Itself, Outlaw Pete (I know a lot of people hate that song, but I love it), Working On a Dream, The Last Carnival, The Wrestler, What love can do, and maybe My Lucky Day are the only good songs on this album, which sucks because I absolutely love Bruce. More time, they could have cut out the crap. I’m sure Bruce isn’t very happy now that he’s seen the amount of negative responses to the album. But the comparison is bs.

i find this new cd much more listenable than Magic, which i found dull. the variety & upbeat spirit here helps. also, Bruce seems more relaxed vocally here, not over emoting or straining. of course it dosent have the clarity of the classic run of lps from Born to Run thru Tunnel of Love, but for me, this is the best cd of the new Bruce. good job.

Saw him sing this turkey on the Daily Show. Sounded strained, constipated, formulaic B-side Bruce. He’s lost his muse. Like McCartney. Don’t try symphony Jersey guy.
