Just in time for Halloween, Forbes has rolled out its top-earning dead celebrity list.  Elvis Presley tops the list at $52 million. The 30th anniversary of his death helped boost attendance figures at Graceland. Earnings were helped by the advent of the Elvis Sirius Satellite Radio Show along with a rather long list of publishing and licensing deals. John Lennon ranked 7th when his estate made $9 million with the majority going to anti-war charities. Marvin Gaye lands 13th place in the list with earnings of $3.5 million. Gaye earned most of his money on biopic deals, album reissues and sample licensing.

    It is very appropriate that the majority of the money made by Lennon’s estate is going to anti-war charities. John Lennon felt very strongly about peace. Read the lyrics of “Imagine”….they are still relevant today.
