R.I.P. Norman Whitfield
Norman Whitfield, songwriter and producer of Motown songs in the late 1960′s and early 1970′s passed away yesterday in Los Angeles. He was emerging from a coma and suffered from diabetes. He was 67 years old. He was known for writing Motown’s biggest hits, “I Heard It From The Grapevine,” “Papa Was A Rolling Stone,” and “War.” Whitfield continued to work at Motown throughout the 70′s and had a hit with”Car Wash.”
