ZZ Top To Record With Black Keys ?!!?
ZZ Top is preparing to record its new album, the first with producer Rick Rubin. Gibbons told Billboard.com that he has forwarded the idea of hooking up with blues-rock band, The Black Keys for songwriting and recording to Rick Rubin. Gibbons stated, ”I’m such a big fan of those guys … It makes total sense,” said Gibbons, who first checked out the Black Keys during a fall 2005 show at New York’s Irving Plaza. “And that’s pretty down and dirty, which is good for ZZ Top.”
Given the Black Keys musical output, I don’t think that this would be such an odd pairing. Both the Black Keys and ZZ Top have roots in the blues. If this works out, it could be mutually complimentary for both bands. Only time will tell if The Black Keys decide to add some Texas boogie to their resume.
