SS Hell Pack : Triple Feature
Now that we’re scraping the concrete underneath the barrel of bad movies and TV, it’s nice to see that someone is paying attention to niche genre’s such as this. The female Nazi films of the 1970′s were surprisingly successful in art house theaters. Hogan’s Hero’s this is not, although I would think Bob Crane would have loved these films as they contain lots of nudity, bondage and S&M. Perhaps the most well known of this genre are the “Ilsa” films which are now sadly deleted from DVD.
Some of the films in this box set were banned in certain parts of the world, but that only contributed to their cult status. Each of these films were made in Italy and directed by notable Sergio Garrone and Bruno Mattei. There were mainstream films out at the same time as these films like the Criterion “The Night Porter”.
Also, check out the newly released 2-Disc Criterion “Salo” which is at the very top of my list for most deranged film ever!!!
