Bob Dylan :: Your Top 10 Bootleg Series Songs (Poll)

122752dylanlmo6 225x300 Bob Dylan :: Your Top 10 Bootleg Series Songs (Poll)

In a previous post, I wrote about my ten favorite songs from the Bootleg series. Admittedly, there were some exceptions to my list and I suggested that others submit their favorite songs as comments. The response to the original post was great and this serves as a follow up. A reader (Hudson) requested that a poll be taken to accurately determine songs that could be on a Bootleg compilation if it were to only contain a limited number of tracks.

So, I took the songs that were mentioned by the others in the comments section and constructed a poll with 25 songs. Your job is to pick 10 songs from this list that would fit on a single disc compilation. The results will be posted after the poll is concluded.

    great poll greg

only one slight issue. “you belong to me” is not from the bootleg series. why don’t you add ïts all over now baby blue”from the acoustic set of bottleg series volume 4 as a replacement or even every grain of sand or lord protect my child from vol 3.

    cheers, hudson

sigh- good try, but I’m with zimm: too many of my favorites not listed to vote! (how can anyone, possibly THINK of not including Blind Willie McTell? ! ;) )

but thank you havin’ Series of Dreams on there!

just confirms what we all already know: Dylan’s songbook is so amazing and so amazingly large, it’s reach and breadth so deep, that there’s room for many many many different fave ‘lists’.

    cheers!

Blind Willie McTell was on the original list.

What about the brilliant Abandoned Love, left off of Desire? Also, the dark, almost gothic sounding Desolation Row from No Direction Home is superior to the original version (the mood of the song matches the lyrics more affectively).

Sorry, I just remembered that Abandoned Love is from Biograph…How about the piano version of The Times They Are A- Changin’ from v. One, and Santa-Fe and Wallflower from v. Two, and Someone’s Got A Hold Of My Heart from v. Three. So much to choose from.

Actually to really do this right, every song from all of the bootleg releases to date should be included. That would really make selecting “only” the top ten a difficult exercise.

Where is One Too Many Mornings from Royal Albert Hall?

  • Greg

One Too Many Mornings was included in my original post which is linked in this one.

To leave Blind Willie Mctell of the list completely invalidates this poll.

I agree with Daphne here. There is just too broad of a scale to attempt to get an accurate reading from.

It would work if Dylan was a so-so artist. But since he is so amazing, and there are so little “bad” tracks to pick from, it’s difficult.

Great poll though. Most people wouldn’t even try it!
