A Place To Bury Strangers : Covington, KY :: Pics and Interview
A Place To Bury Strangers played Covington, KY (Greater Cincinnati) last night. They were tremendous live, and loud! They are touring behind their S/T debut and the live show is intense, droney, and spectacular. This band truly has a live dynamic which is unseen in larger bands. They were playing with a fill-in bassist, but you would not have known it. They were very tight and their sound translated well from cd.
After the concert, I was able to speak with Oliver Ackermann, the singer and ask him a few questions that he graciously answered. I asked what their influences were, and he said a little bit of everything. He mentioned that it wasn’t so much a musical influence, but they also take art into their sound as well. When told that the band sounded like a shoegaze Joy Division, he smiled and said that he hadn’t heard that before but he took that as a compliment. When asked what he thought about touring with Nine Inch Nails; Oliver stated that it was very cool and that the both Nine Inch Nails and the crowds have been very receptive to them. Before departing, Oliver discussed their music and his thoughts on touring.
