0Reality Shows: Where has my MTV gone?
I remember when MTV started and was something relevant. When I was growing up, you watched it to see MUSIC. What a thought. Constantly reporting on music related news, playing music videos, and providing new content to pay attention to. Some would even say it was hip. Soon came VH1 and I got my John Cougar Mellencamp fix. I wanted to live in a little pink house. I would even say that I didn’t half mind listening to Don Henley singing about “The End of the Innocence.” Now what do we get? Reality shows… Reality dating shows have now taken over these networks and instead of promoting new musical artists, MTV and VH1 seem content to promote Myspace Stars and fading rock stars.
Considering the quality of “A Shot of Love.”
God, this is depressing…
I am not sure who this is supposed to appeal to…Am I simply too old to get excited about some random bi chic that pretends like the is real and has something to offer the world? Thank goodness I have the more mature VH1 to fall back on.
Or not.
Rock of Love with Bret Michaels…should I be into this? I suppose it would, if I were interested in following washed up 80′s hair-rock stars and their “love” lives. How I wish MTV and VH1 would go back to their roots and show music videos. I guess that’s a dream and a wish that will never come to pass. Because of that, I will leave you with the excitement of MTV when it was daring, and truly pushed the envelope.
