Cultural Wasteland

Culture in the Midwest is very similar to the environment surrounding Death Valley. The interesting things only occur at night. And in the Midwest, nocturnal activity is regulated. Entertaining occurrences happen once every three years or so. So maybe comparing the Midwest to Death Valley isn’t a very good analogy.
Maybe I should have compared the Midwest’s cultural landscape more to Antarctica. I don’t know of anything really interesting occurring in Antarctica, although I do know it was the setting of the totally badass remake of The Thing, starring Kurt Russell. The more I type, the more I think that this picture of Antarctica is starting to look beautiful. That would mean that the cultural landscape of the Midwest is vibrant and alive much like Antarctica. O.K., screw it. I will make one more picture analogy of the Midwest’s cultural landscape.
The picture that best sums up the culture of the Midwest is a picture of an abandoned K-Mart. The abandoned K-Mart does not have anything going on around it, much like the Midwest. There does not seem to be anything to do in the Midwest for entertainment or culturally minded individuals. Every time there is a good concert, art exhibit, independent film, or restaurant, those stuck in the Midwest always have to travel to another city. That gets more than a little frustrating. Why not move, then? The answer is very simple. The answer is that I enjoy complaining and bitching about things we do not have here.
Besides, I love me some Cornhole.
